Cocreator UX redesign
The Cocreator redesign aimed to enhance the overall user experience and boost usage. The primary objective was to create a clear and intuitive flow that enables users to complete their tasks successfully.
The right-side pane was redesigned to establish a more natural order of processes. By reordering the elements, we achieved greater clarity and improved task completion rates.

The study
We conducted a user study for Cocreator to gather insights on how users interact with the feature and identify areas for improvement. The study aimed to optimize the user experience by understanding the challenges and preferences of our target audience, which primarily consists of "hobby creators".
From the user study, we learned several key points:
Feature Improvements: The insights from the study led to specific improvements, such as enhancing the Cocreator tutorial and optimizing the information architecture (IA) to better guide users through the creation process.
Positive Feedback: Among creators Cocreator received positive response, users were excited to use the feature and felt empowered to create artwork using AI.
Consistency and Usability: The study emphasized the importance of consistency across different features and the need for a holistic user experience. This included aligning design elements and improving the discoverability of key functionalities.
Overall, the user study provided valuable insights that informed the redesign and optimization of the Cocreator feature, ensuring a more seamless and enjoyable experience for users.
The current experience after redesign
The redesign
The redesign focused on some key areas:
Clean UI: a clean and intuitive interface significantly enhances the user experience by making it easier for users to navigate and utilize the features effectively. This is particularly important for a tool like Cocreator, which combines AI prompts with traditional design tools to help users create artwork.
By only displaying the essentials at state 0 instead of all elements allows users to focus on how to get started and navigate through the experience without any distractions.
Progressive disclosure: Progressive disclosure was chosen for the Cocreator pane redesign because it offers several key benefits over displaying all tools upfront. This approach helps to create a more user-friendly and efficient interface, especially for a feature as complex as Cocreator.
Firstly, progressive disclosure improves usability by reducing cognitive overload. By initially presenting only the essential tools and features, users are not overwhelmed with too many options at once. This makes it easier for new users to get started and achieve success from the beginning
Secondly, it supports users of varying experience levels. Novice users can start with the basic tools and gradually discover more advanced features as they become more comfortable with the interface. This ensures that both beginners and experienced users can have a positive experience.
Additionally, progressive disclosure keeps the UI clear and uncluttered. By deferring advanced features and information to secondary UI components, the primary interface remains straightforward and inviting. This helps to maintain a clean and intuitive design, which is crucial for enhancing the overall user experience.
